Fee information
Information published in accordance with article R.4127-53 of the French Public Health Code (code de la santé publique) and the ministerial order (arrêté) of 30 May 2018.
Status with national health insurance
- Agreement
- Doctor contracted with French national health insurance (Assurance Maladie), médecin conventionné
- Sector
- Sector 2, fees set freely by the doctor (fees may be set above the national tariff)
- OPTAM
- Not a member of OPTAM (option de pratique tarifaire maîtrisée, a scheme in which Sector 2 doctors agree to limit their additional fees)
- Additional fees above the national tariff
- Charged with tact and moderation (tact et mesure), in accordance with article R.4127-53 of the French Public Health Code
Reimbursement by your top-up health insurance (complémentaire santé) may be more limited than with a doctor who is a member of OPTAM. For further information, you can consult the health directory (annuaire santé) on the ameli.fr website.
Consultation
- Pre-operative assessment for refractive surgery
- €100 to €135 depending on the tests required, reimbursed by national health insurance and, depending on your policy, by your top-up health insurance (mutuelle)
The pre-operative assessment takes about an hour and includes all the tests needed to reach a decision: corneal topography, pachymetry, aberrometry, measurement of pupil diameter and a dilated eye examination (fundus examination). It determines whether surgery is indicated, which technique is chosen, and sometimes a decision not to operate.
Cataract surgery
The operation is covered by national health insurance. The additional fees and any extra cost for the lens implant are payable by you, in full or in part depending on your top-up insurance.
- Additional fees, per eye
- €400
- Reimbursement base for the procedure (national tariff on which reimbursement is calculated)
- €271.70 per eye, CCAM code BFGA427 (French classification of medical procedures)
- Monofocal lens
- No extra cost, fully covered
- Toric, extended depth of focus or multifocal lens
- Supplement of €90 to €450 per eye depending on the type of lens, not covered by national health insurance but, depending on your policy, by your mutuelle
- Clinic and anaesthesia fees
- Billed directly by Clinique Les Martinets, covered by national health insurance
You are given a detailed written quote (devis) before any operation, in accordance with the order of 30 May 2018. It separates the reimbursed portion, the additional fees and the extra cost of the lens implant, so that you can check with your top-up insurance before you decide.
Refractive surgery
No refractive surgery technique is covered by national health insurance: not LASIK, not SMILE, not Trans-PRK, not PresbyLASIK, not the ICL phakic lens and not PreLex.
The amounts below are all-inclusive fixed fees: surgeon's fees, clinic and technical facility costs, consumables and post-operative follow-up. Because refractive surgery is performed on both eyes in the same session, the fixed fee covers both eyes.
| Technique | Both eyes | Per eye |
|---|---|---|
| Trans-PRK | €2,600 | €1,300 |
| LASIK | €3,000 | €1,500 |
| SMILE | €3,300 | €1,650 |
| PresbyLASIK | €3,300 | €1,650 |
| ICL phakic lens | €5,000 | €2,500 |
| PreLex | €4,500 | €2,250 |
The pre-operative assessment determines the technique suited to your eyes: the amount is not something you choose, it follows from the indication. Trans-PRK is not a cut-price LASIK, and SMILE is not an improved LASIK. They answer different situations.
A growing number of top-up health insurance policies include a fixed allowance for refractive surgery, covering all or part of the cost. The quote you are given at the end of the assessment is designed to be sent directly to your mutuelle.
Secondary cataract (posterior capsule opacification)
- YAG laser capsulotomy
- €170, reimbursement base €83.60, CCAM code BFPP001
The procedure is carried out during a consultation, with no incision and no anaesthesia other than eye drops. It does not need to be repeated.
Methods of payment
Bank card, cheque and cash. Please bring your carte Vitale (French health insurance card) to every consultation so that your claim can be sent electronically to national health insurance.
Mandatory notice
You may only be charged for costs that correspond to a care service actually provided. You cannot be required to pay for a service that does not directly correspond to a care service.
